The Moment You've All Been Waiting for...

The reveal of Drew's baptism blanket.  It turned out FANTASTIC!  I really love it.  The chalice pattern looks great and the Knit Picks yarn really knit up wonderfully (although it did shed on the suit my brother had on a bit).  Without futher ado... The Blanket

I am back from my trip to Chicago (and a quick week off betwen jobs!) and now back to work and hopefully real life.  I have alot of fun crafts to show for my week off (can you say socks - ha ha ha!) and I sewed again too!

What have you been up to?

Finished Socks...

... as promised.

First, BlackJacks.  

The first pair I started (that never got a second sock) and the last to be finished.  

 But cute, and fun, and SWIRLY!

Disappointingly though, they ended up not matching.  One had more blue, the other more green.  I like the blue sock better...alas

But under a pair of jeans you wont' hardly notice and I really like the pattern and the way the colors swirled (except for all the pooling at my ankle - at least it pooled the same on both).

Secondly, the Duckies.  DK socks - Oh how I love thee!

Soft and Sweet and Happy Feet indeed...

These adorable socks are on their way to Ohio - lovingly made and wrapped and in a package for my mom for Mother's Day.  I have NEVER knit socks for anyone other than myself.  That (even in DK weight) should give you and idea how MUCH I Love my Mom!

Distractions

I am sorry I went MIA, see...I've been a bit distracted...first my little brother came through town and then we went to Chicago so I could meet this sweet little guy...

My lovely adorable nephew.  (at least he is in the hat I knit for him, that's crafty right?!)

And I have been knitting (you know, plane ride and all).  So, I started this...

The Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmerman.

It was really great and fun to knit.  I had the GREATEST yarn - just wonderful!  And it knits up really fast, and is very ingenious.  You see, when you are done knitting it, it looks like this...

And after a lesson in Oragami, it looks like this...

Ta-Da!  Surprise - its a baby jacket! 

 

BTW - It is waaaaay more gorgeous and amazing than it looks on film, the camera just isn't picking it up.  Also - its superwash (you are welcome SIL who will have to wash it) - but it also has some cashmere in it and its is THE SOFTEST (yummy!) yarn.  I have to sew the two tiny seams, and find buttons and block it, and then the jacket will be headed back to Chicago in my place (boo hoo!)  It is itty bitty teeny tiny so I have to hurry.  As quick as he was changing and growing in the 4 days we were there - it liable to only fit him for another week or two.

I still have another (pair!) of socks to show you and more things started (I'm really good at starting things...not so much the 'finishing' part...anyway) more to show you this week (like what I found at the GREAT fabric store in Chicago!  yippeee!!)

Baby Crafts

So...since the arrival of little Andrew - I haven't been making much other than baby stuff.  I first sent a package with the nursing cover (which was already made before he came) ...

And I also made a hat for Drew that matched his Daddy's OSU hat I made him for Christmas..

Anyway...Drew was born a Buckeye's fan, no doubt

  

and its cold in Chicago in February, so he needed another hat to cover his sweet little red head...

The list of baby things I want to make to spoil my nephew rotten is about a mile long.  So there will be lots of baby crafts around here for awhile and probably alot of gratuitous baby pics just so I can show him off!

Again, I'm still knitting away (Ravelympics oh how I love thee...) but geesh - knitting takes sooo much longer to produce a finished product to show off!

I had a wonderful weekend away with the girls for KnitAway 2010 (and we had a great location to take pictures of the amazing Southern Snow!), and since I've been quite inspired to knit.  I also finished knitting two things while we were away that weekend and have three more happily started!  Why am I telling you all of this?!?  B/c I HAVE been crafting - and I could make a post about it - but really all I want to tell you - is that I'm an AUNT!!  (for real, for really real real!!)  My brother and his wife had Andrew pretty unexpectedly this morning (well he was about three weeks early - but they had a C-section planned b/c he was breech).  Everyone is doing GREAT and I just wanted to brag on my nephew!!

And since its still technically a crafting blog ... his mom did send me this picture the other day - of his quilt happily hanging in his finished nursery.  I hear it matches fantastically and they love it!
